9 Local Saskatoon Ice Cream Shops You Need To Try This Summer

Here’s the scoop. We love supporting our local community and want to share the love and excitement with all of you. This summer we are challenging you to stop by as many of these amazing local shops and try something new! You cone do it!

Crunchy Dog Ice Cream & Eats

Located in Westmount on 339 Avenue I North, Crunchy Dog Ice Cream & Eats offers a unique experience for you and your pet! When you bring your furry friend down to the shop, they are rewarded with soft ice cream topped with a frozen milk bone treat. Don’t worry, there are tons of options available for humans too. Crunchy Dog offers 16 flavours of ice cream, including sugar-free and frozen yogurt, sundaes, parfaits, gourmet ice cream cookies, and so much more – you’ll have to check it out for yourself!

Owners, Maria and Lockhart Strankowski, are bringing a little taste of European cuisine to Saskatoon with spaghetti ice cream. Spaghetti-shaped ice cream is topped with strawberry puree and chocolate-covered cake balls will leave you wondering why you haven’t visited Crunchy Dog before!

Chardon Ice Cream

Serving the Saskatoon community for 20 years, the friendly service at Chardon Ice Cream is a must stop shop this summer! Stop by 1945 McKercher Drive to try their 20 flavours of hard ice cream, 9 flavours of dipped cones, parfaits, sundaes, twisters, and splits. It’ll take you all summer to try everything, but that’s something we can get behind!

The Daily Scoop

Located on 2605 Broadway Avenue in the Avalon shopping centre lot, The Daily Scoop offers friendly service and a wide variety of unique products. From churro burritos to cinnamon bun sundaes, you’re bound to try something new here! We recommend the chocolate-covered frozen bananas sprinkled in your choice of Skor bits, peanuts, coconut, or sprinkles.

Fable Ice Cream & Espresso

Located on 633 Avenue H South, Fable Ice Cream & Espresso brings a new twist to the Saskatoon market. Made from scratch locally in Saskatoon, Fable Ice Cream specializes in creating delicious flavours with fresh ingredients. Owners Jordan and Lauren believe that real food tastes the best, and that’s why Fable uses organic milk and sugar cane, and sources as many ingredients as possible from local farmers and suppliers. The goal is to share the love and excitement of ice cream with the community and bring joy into the lives of people in the Saskatoon community.

Beppi’s Gelato

You’re bound to have gelato fun when you visit Beppi’s! Located in the lively Broadway neighbourhood at 616 10th Street E #1, Beppi’s offers handmade gelato and sorbetto using fresh, local and Italian ingredients. Each flavour is made in small batches to preserve the essence of quality ingredients and passion. Beppi’s will exceed your expectations and you’ll find yourself becoming a regular customer!

Homestead Ice Cream & Novelties

Homestead Ice Cream & Novelties has been a staple in the Saskatoon community since 1978. Located at 822 Victoria Avenue, Homestead offers a unique 1950s experience – you’ll leave feeling like you were transported back to the set of Grease! Each batch of ice cream is made in small batches on-site and is a perfect treat to enjoy while taking a walk down to Rotary Park afterwards.

River Landing Snacks

Enjoy a walk down by the river and stop by River Landing Snacks located at 110A Spadina Crescent East. From sundaes, twisters, milkshakes, floats, icebergs and hard and soft-serve ice cream, River Landing Snacks has something for everyone! Think you’re up for a challenge? For $40, you can get one scoop of every flavour of ice cream available (16 in total), whipped cream, multiple sauces, cherries, and a pointy cone. Will you accept the challenge?

Bus Stop Refreshments

Located in the heart of Saskatoon, Bus Stop Refreshments is a Saskatoon bucket list place you need to visit! Whether you’re out shopping downtown, taking a walk by the river, or out on a lunch break, stop by the big red bus by the Bessborough hotel. Bus Stop Refreshments supports local, and proudly serves Homestead’s homemade ice cream for their cones, sundaes, shakes, and floats.

Cones Ice Cream

We didn’t forget about Saskatoon’s neighbouring communities! If you’re in Martensville, you need to check out Cones Ice Cream located in Kinsmen Park near the tennis courts.  Opening on June 4, Cones Ice Cream was founded by three entrepreneurial high school students looking to have fun and make some extra money on the side. The goal is to bring the community together and preserve the essence of a small-town feel in a growing city. From All Canadian Moose to Peach Sorbet, there’s a flavour for everyone!
